Hiawatha, Kansas - April 3, 2019 - Greg Rodvelt, President of the Hiawatha Community Hospital Board of Trustees, announced today that John Broberg, MA, FACHE has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Broberg has been serving as the Interim CEO since February 8, 2019. Mr. Broberg has been in health care for 44 years including 27 years as a senior leader, having been CEO for three different hospitals. After retiring from Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan in 2016, Mr. Broberg started Broberg Consulting Group, LLC to provide executive coaching and interim CEO services.

Mr. Rodvelt shared "John originally committed to work with an extended engagement due to the financial situation of the hospital especially since Hiawatha Community Hospital is pursuing a county-wide ½ cent sales tax. The Board decided on April 2nd to offer Mr. Broberg the permanent position." Mr. Broberg accepted and shared "I have a special fondness for this hospital and community. I am truly blessed to work with compassionate and committed leaders, employees and providers and great Boards for the Hospital and Foundation. I am excited to serve in this permanent role and work with the Board, providers and the staff to create an organization where people want to work, providers want to practice and patients in our region want to receive care."
