1) Participants will have a basic understanding of current trends in adolescents facing substance abuse issues.
2) Participants will learn about current treatment options.
3) Participants will hear about efforts in preventing adolescent substance use/abuse.
Discussion of substances being abused by our youth including illegal, prescription, and legal over-the-counter medications.
The presentation will address
· The recognition of misused substances.
· Clinical symptoms of a person under the influence of each abused substance.
· Prevention efforts.
· Referral and support resources.
· Treatment strategies for adolescents.
